The fact that your gun has a serial number dats it to post 1968. Savage changed it several times over the years.
To My knowledge, Savage/Stevens/Springfield has never made DOM's public.in the case of ther most famous gun.the Model 99 lever action You cna get facory seriel number/DOM from 1898 thru 1940.From 1940 on you need to contact a private source for DOM as it is determined from serial number and there is some data in public that gives you certasin info.like the last Model 99 made in Utica,NY was #447601 and was shipped on 10-11-45.There is even a block of numbers missing completely .514740-514975.there is no known record of.Some of this can be traced to a couple of things.like ca 1930 Savage lost.either ina fire or because the paper records were sold as scrap.many of these were from firms 'acquired' by Savage.like Crescent Firearms.the other factor is.stamping a firearm with a unique and consecutive serial number is costly so for the inexpensive entry level firearm(most of the Savage line up) no numbers were used until it became a matter of law in 1968.Dating earlier firearms can be narrowed to a over all production run.like from 1900 to 1925 and further dated by the format the company stamping takles.
